Featuring Sir Bones

I have been looking everywhere for some realistic ears for Sir Bones.   The idea of the ears is to channel forward sound in to the microphone; just like in the human body.

Trying to find realist ears is actually quite hard.  Most of the ears available are novelty ears, over-sized and not very realistic.
I even went into a fancy dress shop to ask if they knew where I could get some, with no luck.

Recently I was shopping in Tesco's and I noticed this scary Halloween mask. The ears were almost perfect size for Sir Bones, so I could not resist buying this face mask.

The mask was very easy to cut.  This will be a big help later on when trying to glue the ears on to Sir Bones's skull.

.

Even with the ears being extremely flexible, they still did not fit snugly around the microphones.  The ears were bulked up with Polymorph to help the hug the Sir Bones's skull, especially around the ear hole.

Now the long process of gluing the features onto Sir Bones.

The glue I used the most was a glue called "Serious Glue".  It takes 24 hours to completely dry, but sticks fairly well after about 2 hours.

I tried to glue the whole ear on to the skull, that proved to be a bad idea.  The best way is to start with a large surface area and then apply more glue over a period of days.  This gives the previous application of glue chance to dry.

.

After 90% of the ear was glued, there were bits of ear that stuck out too far for this "Serious Glue" to handle.  This is when I reached for my trusty glue gun.

Using the glue gun, I was able to finish gluing the remaining 10%.

As you may have noticed in the above picture, I have also used the nose from the mask.  This I think compliments the overall look.
