Sir Bones
For some strange reason I've always wanted to try put two cameras into a skull. It wasn't until I was on vaction in Eastbourne with my girlfriend Sarah, that I saw the perfect skull for the project.
As luck would have it a magazine came out called "Funny Bones", that was available weekly. The first issue had the bottom part of the skull.
Meet Sarah and Sir Bones
I had to wait another 2 issues to get the top part of the skull. So I set to work, cutting out a space for the web cams. I would get so far and try to fit the webcam, only to find there wasn't enough room to focus it.
It took several weeks on and off before I finally had the right fit.
Above picture shows the webcams in place, with the cable fitted through a hole drilled in the back of the skull. I decided to get the rib cage as well, as it would be useful for mounting it.
The base was a garden saucer, that was a nice weight to support the whole structure, including any trailing cables.
It was made of pottery, so it was easy to drill a hole in it. Quick go with the glue gun, and everything was supported.
Things for the future:
- Fit muscles
- Add a speaker and microphone
